The office of the City Environment and Natural Resources adheres to its mandate to protect the environment in order to ensure a sustainable growth and development for its people. The City ENRO was instituted to spearhead the City’s compliance to RA 9003, promote proper management and utilization of its natural resources and implementation of mitigating measures to prevent and control land, air and water pollution in coordination with government and non-government agencies and organizations.

 To protect, restore and enhance environmental quality towards good public health, environmental integrity and economic viability.

Mrs. Maria Cristina Sunguad

Biography

She started in public service in 1994 and in her early years in the government, she became part of the City Planning and Development Office in Batangas City. She was also an Economic Researcher and a Transportation Regulation Officer before she was appointed as a Supervising Environmental Specialist in 2011 until 2023. Ms. Sunguad has recently been elected as the National Secretary of the Philippine League of Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (PLLENRO), Inc. for the 2023-2026 term. Among her many notable experiences and contributions include being an environmental educator, a secretary to various environmental boards and councils, and implementer of clean and green programs in Batangas City and in the City of  Calaca. She is well-trained in public service leadership, administration, and management, in Incident Management and Command System, Search and Rescue Operation, in Solid Waste Management, Air/Water Quality Management, Forest, Wildlife and Natural Resources Management, in Energy Conservation, GHG Accounting & Inventory, among others.
